Registration takes place from 10:30am. The ride will commence at 11:30am. The ride has two options – 19 miles or with an additional 13 mile loop - totalling 33 miles following the route of the Oxfordshire Cycleway through the scenic Otmoor villages and countryside.
The ride is designed for all ages and abilities but we do require that riders under the age of 16 are accompanied by an adult. The event is fully marshalled with a support vehicle following behind with limited bike repair facilities. Free soft drinks are available at various points on the route.
The ride finishes at Islip Village Hall (see above) where everyone can relax with snacks and drinks.
Please ensure that your bike is in good repair and roadworthy before commencing the ride. If you do not feel able to cycle we are always looking for people willing to act as marshals.
The Oxford Rural 22 Bike Ride is a local fundraising event for cancer research, round beautiful Oxfordshire villages.
The Bike Ride was started 24 years ago by local mum and trainee teacher, Janet Russell, following her innitially successful treatment for cancer. Four years later, in 1997, it became the Janet Russell Memorial Ride. Building on Janet’s memory, and that of other cancer victims who have been involved in the Bike Ride, as well as the longstanding support of their family and friends and other local cancer survivors, the event is now known as the Oxford Rural 22 Bike Ride – as one of the successful and well-known series of Cancer Research UK Bike Rides.
We intend for the Oxford Rural 22 to raise greater annual sums for cancer research as a result.
All proceeds go to The Churchill Partners at the Churchill Hospital, Oxford
Cancer Research UK Charity No: 1089464. The Churchill Partners support the work of the Cancer Research UK in Oxford, principally for the care and treatment of patients at the Churchill Hospital, including clinical research.
The amount the ride has raised to date is over £100,000.
Please come and join us on the twenty fifth annual bike ride in aid of Cancer Research.
The date of the ride is
Sunday June 11th 2017
We have helped the Churchill Partners to reach over £1million so we have plenty to encourage us to continue the good work.
The ride both starts and ends at
Islip Village Hall,
